DESCRIPTION:We’ll be staying more local for our December destination trail Run. Shotgun creek is a fun 5-mile looped trail near Marcola. It is very forested and has some nice little creeks. This time of year the trail could be a little wet\, so plan accordingly! After the run we’ll head over to Marcola Roadhouse for some food and drinks. \n\n\n\nThis event is free.  \n\n\n\nDetails: \n\n\n\nSaturday\, Dec 30: 9:00 AM-9:15 AM: Meet at Run Hub NW to carpool to Shotgun Creek trail.10:00 AM: Meet at the trail. We will get a group photo\, talk about the trail and then be on our way!12:00 PM: Meet at Marcola Roadhouse for food and drinks. \n\n\n\nAddress to Shotgun Creek Recreation Area: From the south (Eugene/Springfield): Take Marcola Road north 12.8 miles from the intersection of Marcola and Camp Creek Roads. Turn left onto Shotgun Creek Road and go 1.5 miles to the Shotgun Creek Campground. Turn right into the campground\, and the staging area will on the left in .1 mile. \n\n\n\nMarcola Roadhouse address: 92178 Marcola Rd\, Marcola\, OR 97454 \n\n\n\nEach loop is 5 miles. We will most likely have people that want to do one and two loops\, and possibly even three loops! \n\n\n\nAll levels are welcome!

SUMMARY:Destination Trail Run: McKenzie River Trail
DESCRIPTION:SIGN UP FOR THE RUN SHUTTLE HERE. \n\n\n\nFor our November Destination Trail Run\, we’ll stick with tradition and head to the McKenzie River Trail! We typically do this run in December\, but are moving it up a month in the hopes of avoiding too much snow.  \n\n\n\nMeet at Run Hub at 8 AM and we’ll leave at 8:15AM to carpool to Belknap Hot Springs\, or meet us there around 9:30 AM. Horse Creek Lodge will shuttle us to starting locations on the trail for point-to-point runs ending back at Belknap Hot Springs. There will be mile options ranging 5-13 miles. You must sign up for the run shuttle ahead of time; the cost is $10.  \n\n\n\nAll paces are welcome\, including running and walking! \n\n\n\nAfter the run/hike\, we’ll go to Belknap Hot Springs for an hour soak. The cost is $10/person. Please bring a swimsuit and towel\, as well as a change of clothes\, food and water for after the run. \n\n\n\nSIGN UP FOR THE RUN SHUTTLE HERE.

SUMMARY:Destination Trail Run: McKenzie River Trail Run & Raft
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual run and raft trip on the McKenzie River! Run on the McKenzie River Trail and then choose whether to stay for lunch and a guided rafting trip on the river. \n\n\n\nNOTE: You must sign up ahead of time for both the run and the raft trip. \n\n\n\nTHE TRAIL RUNWe’ll meet at Run Hub at 8 a.m. and leave by 8:15 a.m. to carpool to the Paradise Campground boat launch\, arriving by about 9:30 a.m. There will be people choosing just to run or run and raft\, so we can determine carpools prior to leaving Run Hub. You can also meet us there if you don’t want to carpool. \n\n\n\nTHE SHUTTLEOur friends at Horse Creek Lodge offer a shuttle service to transport us upriver from Paradise so we can do a point-to-point run with options of approximately 4.5 miles\, 7.5 miles and 14.5 miles. Shuttling is $10 to cover staffing and gas for shuttles. Sign up ahead of time (link below) to reserve your spot on the shuttle bus\, even if you’re not rafting. \n\n\n\nLUNCHAfter the 1-2+ hour trail run (depending which distance you choose)\, we’ll plan on using the picnic tables to have lunch at Paradise Campground. Note: you provide your own lunch. \n\n\n\nRAFTINGAfter lunch\, those who signed up for rafting will suit up in booties and wet suits and get going about 1-1:30 p.m. The raft trip is about 3 hours of floating on the river and includes snacks and a shuttle back to Paradise for $70. If you plan to raft PLEASE BOOK YOUR SPOT EARLY so that they can plan ahead for enough rafts and guides. The rafting cost includes your trail run shuttle fee. \n\n\n\nRegistration is now closed.

DESCRIPTION:For our June trail run we will be exploring the beautiful trails of Oakridge! The Dead Mountain trail has it all: steep switchbacks\, lush forest\, and a great view of the Willamette National Forest at the top. Details: \n\n\n\n9:00 AM-9:15 AM: Meet at Run Hub to carpool to Oakridge.10:00 AM: Meet at Greenwaters Park in Oakridge. Address: 48362 OR-58\, Oakridge\, OR 9746310:15 AM: We will be starting at Greenwaters park and running the Salmon Creek trail. This is a flat section. The Salmon Creek Trail will connect to the Dead Mountain trail. This climbs to the top where you will have a tough but rewarding climb before bombing back down the trail! \n\n\n\nThis will be an out and back\, with suggested mileage options of 6 miles\, 12 miles\, and 18 miles. If you do the 6-miler\, you will be able to just stay flat the entire time. \n\n\n\nAfter the run we will go to Three Legged Crane for some beer and food. The brewery is only a half mile from Greenwaters park. \n\n\n\nWe will be doing some video taping during the run so if you do not want to be video taped just let me know before the run! \n\n\n\nAll levels welcome! \n\n\n\nThis is a preview run for one of the Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge races. The Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge is a 3-day stage race on the trails of the Willamette National Forest near Oakridge. The races will take place Aug. 4-6\, with each race showcasing a new trail and having over 2\,600 feet of elevation gain. Runners can register for one\, two or all three days. This is an out-and-back trail\, so you can do any distance. If you want to run 13.5 miles total\, you will keep going past the Jessie Wright segment and will run another 1.7 miles into the Deer Leap segment to a cool bridge. Twin Lakes parking lot will be on your right\, and trailhead is on the left.After the run\, if you want to see Toketee Falls\, you will continue driving on Highway 138. The trail is less then a half mile long down to the falls. Super pretty and highly recommend it!

DESCRIPTION:For our December Destination Trail Run\, we’ll stick with tradition and head to the McKenzie River Trail! \n\n\n\nMeet at Run Hub at 8 AM and we’ll leave at 8:15AM to carpool to Belknap Hot Springs\, or meet us there around 9:30 AM. Horse Creek Lodge will shuttle us ($5 per person) to starting locations on the trail for point-to-point runs ending back at Belknap Hot Springs. There will be mile options ranging 5-12 miles.  \n\n\n\nAll paces are welcome\, including running and walking! If the trail is snowy\, we plan to snowshoe instead. Snowshoe rentals can be found at Berg’s in Eugene. \n\n\n\nAfter the run/hike\, we’ll go to Belknap Hot Springs for an hour soak. The cost is $8/person. DESCRIPTION:For October’s destination trail run we’ll head north to Silver Falls State Park. \n\n\n\nWe’ll do the 7.2-mile Trail of Ten Falls\, which is a loop that passes a series of breathtaking waterfalls along a rocky canyon and descends to a winding creek at the forest floor. The trail has an overall elevation change of 800 feet. SUMMARY:Destination Trail Run: Dead Mountain/Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge Preview Run
DESCRIPTION:This month’s Destination Trail Run will be Dead Mountain\, located in the trail running capital of the PNW: Oakridge\, Oregon.  \n\n\n\nWe will start at the Dead Mountain Trailhead. From there\, you will have the option to run up the Dead Mountain trail\, which climbs around 3\,000 feet in 5.5 miles. The summit is well worth it though! You will be rewarded with 180 degree views of the Willamette National Forest below you. If you are planning on participating in the Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge on July 8th-10th this is the trail you will be running on during the second day of the stage race. If climbing isn’t your thing you can cross the road and run on the flat but scenic Salmon Creek trail.  \n\n\n\nIf you choose to run Dead Mountain\, it is an out and back trail that would total around 11 miles. If you do the Salmon Creek Trail\, you can do a 3- to 5-mile out and back or you can do an 8-mile loop. I will bring a map to show you the loop. All levels are welcome! DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our biggest destination trail run of the year! Come out and enjoy a run in the woods with friends and a soak in the hot springs after! Details below:9:00 AM: Meet at Run Hub for a 9:15ish departure. Car pool options will be available.10:15 AM: Arrive at Belknap Hot Springs. You can also meet us in the parking lot there at this time rather than carpool. Address: 59296 Belknap Hot Springs Rd\, McKenzie Bridge\, OR 97413.Run: Topo will be there for you to demo some shoes. We will start at Belknap and run east on the famous McKenzie River trail. The trail is closed 5 miles up due to a bridge down\, so the longest option this year will be a 10 mile out and back. If you wanted to run longer though you can always continue past the hot springs to the end of the trail and run back. That would get you an extra 3 plus miles for a total of over 13 miles. For those who want to run less simply just turn around early.After the run enjoy a one hour long soak at the Belknap Hot Springs. Cost is $8 per person. Towels are extra\, so bring your own towel. *Normally we would be shuttled to start the run\, making it point to point\, but the fires during the late summer devastated this trail and they are still cleaning up and building bridges. Sections are still closed and will be closed until the summer. Can’t wait to see you all there! This has been our biggest run in the past. In 2019 we had 58 runners. Let’s enjoy these trails we are so lucky to have.

Address: 14699 Highway 36\, Deadwood\, OR 97430 \n\n\n\nDirections to trailhead: Travel west on OR-126 for 30.4 mi. At the Whittaker Creek Recreation Area east of Mapleton between mileposts 26 & 27 turn left (south) onto Siuslaw River Rd (Forest Service Road 4390). Travel 1.6 miles and veer right at the Whittaker Creek sign and cross the bridge over the Siuslaw River. Travel this road for 1.5 miles\, then turn left onto Dunn Ridge Road. Continue on Dunn Ridge Road for 7.0 miles to a “T” shaped junction at the end of the pavement. Turn left at the T junction onto Knowles Creek Road and continue 2.8 miles. Veer right onto Forest Service Road #23 and follow for 1.6 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 919 and follow for 2.8 miles and turn right into parking area. Follow signs to the trailhead.

DESCRIPTION:For this month’s destination trail run\, we are going to go to Oakridge. In my biased opinion\, the best place for trails in the entire PNW\, and possibly the nation! With over 500 miles of trails around the area you never have to stop exploring. This month we will be going on a new trail called the Middle Fork. It was a relatively flat trail\, compared to Oakridge trail standards. It is over 30 miles long one way and hugs the Middle Fork Willamette River the entire way. We will start at Sand Prairie campground\, which is 12 miles south on forest service road 21. It is an approximately a 70-minute drive from Run Hub. We will run south on the Middle Fork trail. Since this trail is a one way you can turn around whenever you like. We will eat lunch at Three Legged Crane Brewery in Oakridge after. DESCRIPTION:On September 24-26\, the Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge will take place\, so we will not be doing a destination trail run at the end of September. Instead we are going to do one a couple of weeks earlier on Sunday\, September 12. We will meet at 8 AM at Run Hub to carpool to the Dead Mountain trailhead. We will leave Run Hub around 8:15 and should arrive at the trailhead around 9 AM. This is an up and down mountain course\, so if you want to summit it will be just over an 11-mile roundtrip. If you want to run less you can turn around at anytime\, but I promise the views are worth the summit! This will take us all of the way to the summit where you will have gorgeous 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains including the sisters mountains. The entire run will be about 11.5 miles and will have around 2\,800 feet of vert.\n\nRunners are welcome to do a shorter run and turnaround at the gravel road crossing. DESCRIPTION:For February’s Destination Trail run you are in for a treat. This is one of my personal favorite trails. This is a 10k trail one way\, just a few miles past Oakridge. Do the entire trail\, out and back and you will get 20k of pure bliss trail running. There are no other trails to get lost on\, so do not worry about which way to go for this one. There is only one way! The trail hugs the Hills Creek Reservoir and steadily gains elevation while you run. You will not even feel like you are gaining altitude until the last mile\, where you will have a nice steep climb to the end of the trail. If you do the entire thing you might be treated with some snow! \nAfter the run join us for a bite to eat at Brewers Union. \nOakridge is truly a trail running paradise and I would love to share a little piece of it with all of you by joining me for a run in the woods. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual run and raft trip on the McKenzie River! Run on the McKenzie River Trail and then choose whether to stay for lunch and a guided rafting trip on the river. NOTE: You must sign up ahead of time for the raft trip. More details below. \nTHE TRAIL RUN\nWe’ll meet at Run Hub at 8 a.m. and leave by 8:15 a.m. to head to the Paradise campground boat launch\, arriving by about 9:30 a.m. There will be people choosing just to run or run and raft\, so we can determine carpools prior to leaving Run Hub. \nTHE SHUTTLE\nOur friends at Horse Creek Lodge offer a shuttle service to transport us upriver from Paradise so we can do a point-to-point run with options of 6 or 12 miles. Shuttling is $5 to cover staffing and gas for shuttles. Please email reservations@horse-creek.com or call 541-822-3243 to reserve your spot on the shuttle bus! \nLUNCH\nAfter the 1-2+ hr trail run (depending which distance you choose)\, we’ll plan on using the picnic tables to have lunch at Paradise campground. Note: you provide your own lunch. \nRAFTING\nAfter lunch\, those who signed up for rafting will suit up in booties and wet suits and get going about 1-1:30 p.m. The raft trip is about 3 hours of floating on the river and includes snacks and a shuttle back to Paradise for $55.
