DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, August 12\, for the 2023 Gear Grants Jackpot Jog\, a poker run and catered lunch to fundraise for Run Hub Gear Grants!  \n\n\n\nRun Hub Gear Grants provides free running shoes and other gear to school-aged runners in need. Our fall 2023 Gear Grants application is open\, and grants will be issued to cross country athletes in September.  \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for the event. Your $25 Gear Grants Jackpot Jog ticket includes  \n\n\n\n\naccess to the poker run and post-run raffle\n\n\n\na catered lunch from Yardy Eugene\n\n\n\na drink from ColdFire Brewing\n\n\n\n\nThe run will start at 12 PM at Run Hub Northwest\, 515 High Street in Eugene. Runners will run to five checkpoints throughout downtown Eugene and will draw a playing card at each one. The run will end at ColdFire Brewing Company\, 263 Mill St.   \n\n\n\nThe object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run! The winner of the game will receive a $100 gift card to Run Hub!   \n\n\n\nThanks to our sponsors\, Brooks\, Gu and Coros\, 100% of ticket sales will go to Run Hub Gear Grants!  \n\n\n\nAnd thank you to the local businesses who are participating as poker card stops: Porterhouse Clothing & Supply\, Bumble Boutique\, Farmers Union Coffee Roasters\, Zenith Performance and Wellness\, and Elevation Bouldering Gym! \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent schedule: \n\n\n\n11 AM: Meet at Run Hub to check out Brooks demo shoes and Coros demo watches and sample Gu Energy  \n\n\n\n12 PM: Poker run begins at Run Hub and finishes at ColdFire  \n\n\n\n1 PM: Food\, drinks and raffle at ColdFire  \n\n\n\nMore about Run Hub Gear Grants: \n\n\n\nRun Hub has issued 45 $200 Gear Grants to local high school runners since the program’s inception in fall 2022.   \n\n\n\nRun Hub Gear Grants can be used by middle and high school students to purchase running shoes and other gear from Run Hub. Students must be enrolled in a track or cross country program at a Eugene/Springfield school or a sanctioned youth running program within Eugene/Springfield. Grants are given in the spring and fall of each year.  \n\n\n\nGear grants are created with funds donated by Run Hub customers and community members and through fundraising runs such as the Jackpot Jog.  \n\n\n\nA cross country runner at South Eugene High School who received a Gear Grant last fall said this:  \n\n\n\n“Receiving a Run Hub Gear Grant was being allowed to have the opportunity to succeed in running … I still use the training shoes today\, they might be a bit dirty but they still are some of the best shoes I’ve ever had and some of the most comfortable. The spikes allowed me to compete at a level that challenged me and my abilities\, and since I’ve never done distance\, cross country was an immense challenge. From the start of the season\, I was running 26 minute 5Ks\, and by the end\, I was running 21 minutes. Not much\, but it was extremely important to me as I’ve always struggled with distance and it was my first year. I likely wouldn’t have had such an improvement without the help from Run Hub.”

DESCRIPTION:For our August Destination Trail Run\, we’ll be traveling to the Oregon Coast to South Beach State Park in Newport on Sun\, Aug. 27.  \n\n\n\nAddress: 5580 SW Coast Hwy\, Newport\, OR 97366 \n\n\n\nThis is a gem of a trail that most people do not know about! This is also a preview run for the Twisted Pine Run in September. This trail allows access to sandy beaches and beautiful single track trails. We will be offering a 6-mile run\, or you can hit some of the sandy beaches to add some extra mileage. \n\n\n\nBrooks will be at the trail run with the Cascadia 17 trail shoe for you to demo on the run!  \n\n\n\nAfter the run we will enjoy a pint and some food at the Newport Brewing Co.
