More about Run Hub Gear Grants:

Run Hub has issued 45 $200 Gear Grants to local high school runners since the program’s inception in fall 2022.

Run Hub Gear Grants can be used by middle and high school students to purchase running shoes and other gear from Run Hub. Students must be enrolled in a track or cross country program at a Eugene/Springfield school or a sanctioned youth running program within Eugene/Springfield. Grants are given in the spring and fall of each year.

Gear grants are created with funds donated by Run Hub customers and community members and through fundraising runs such as the Jackpot Jog.

A cross country runner at South Eugene High School who received a Gear Grant last fall said this:

“Receiving a Run Hub Gear Grant was being allowed to have the opportunity to succeed in running … I still use the training shoes today, they might be a bit dirty but they still are some of the best shoes I’ve ever had and some of the most comfortable. The spikes allowed me to compete at a level that challenged me and my abilities, and since I’ve never done distance, cross country was an immense challenge. From the start of the season, I was running 26 minute 5Ks, and by the end, I was running 21 minutes. Not much, but it was extremely important to me as I’ve always struggled with distance and it was my first year. I likely wouldn’t have had such an improvement without the help from Run Hub.”
