Injury Prevention for Runners

September 29, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for Injury Prevention for Runners to learn the most common running injuries and how to prevent them from Bodywise physical therapist Jocee Long. Whether you’ve been injured in the past, are currently nursing and injury, or simply want to prevent any future injuries, you’re sure to walk away with some valuable information after Jocee’s talk. You’ll also have the opportunity for Q & A to get those burning questions answered.

About Jocee Long, DPT

As a machinist on the safety and injury prevention team at a large aeronautics machine shop I experienced first-hand how much health, body mechanics, posture and stress play a role in injuries. With this realization, my mechanical mind and interest in anatomy and physiology transformed into a passion for bio-mechanics and led me to pursue a career in Physical therapy.

Both at the University of Montana, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance with a focus in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology in 2011 and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014.

Professionally, I believe a combination of manual therapy techniques paired with functional strengthening and teaching mindful movement is the best way to address physical impairments and also empower clients to take control of their health and know their body.

Personally, I spend my time doing any activity that involves being outdoors, some of my favorites being skiing, hiking, and camping. I also love to read, travel, spend time with family and friends, and I always have a crafting project in mind.
