Run Hub Speaker Series #4

It’s Okay to Have Negative Thoughts

With Melissa Todd, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

February 13, 2023 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

Run Hub is hosting a four-part speaker series for runners of all levels! In this session you’ll learn Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) from a sport psychologist who teaches the same skills to elite athletes, and find out how to apply its principles to fit your needs as a runner.

Have you ever tried to “think positive,” “be confident,” or “just believe in yourself,” only to notice this is more easily said than done? Have you struggled with motivation and sticking to your training plan? ACT teaches athletes to relate more effectively to uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and sensations, while staying engaged in committed, values-driven actions toward their goals. It is quickly becoming the approach of choice for modern sport psychologists.
